Pension reforms – how much do you know?

We know that our members value the importance we place on keeping them up-to-date, and we strive to inform them on new legislations through a variety of means. Our website, for example, contains relevant documents and latest industry news, which are easily accessible. On top of this, our quarterly regional meetings allow recruiters to gain support on upcoming issues through presentations and networking, with both fellow agencies and service providers.
With this in mind, I found it extremely shocking to read that over half of workers knew nothing about the pension reform being introduced next month, according to a recent survey. The study, which was carried out by finance firm Scottish Widows, found that 52% of 5,200 adults were ‘completely unaware’ of the auto-enrolment. Furthermore, almost two thirds said they had only heard about it through the media.
It appears that employers aren’t doing enough to ensure that information trickles down throughout the company, particularly as it was found that lower paid staff are less likely to know about auto-enrolment. This is why our agencies really welcome the support element of being part of TEAM, so that they don’t fall into the same trap as many businesses.
You can find out more about the pension reform here. Also, keep an eye out for a whitepaper on this topic by recruitment specialists, Meridian, which TEAM has provided comment for.
